After graduating with an Economics degree from the University of Bristol, Matthew Salter spent five years as a macro-economics policy adviser at HM Treasury, advising Government ministers in his role as a European specialist. Following a spell on secondment to Brussels, and having successfully passed the European institutions entrance exams (concours) Matthew left the UK civil service to earn a Masters in Economics at UCL, London.

Matthew has spent the last eight years in Reserves Management at a Central Bank in the Middle East, where he managed a multi-billion dollar investment portfolio. As a senior portfolio manager, Matthew has an in-depth knowledge of investing in international capital markets including most specifically the fixed income universe. Matthew also spent two years heading the Central Bank’s representative office in New York, where he worked on asset allocation strategies and with external managers on equity and FX investments.

Matthew is a CFA charter holder. In his spare time he likes to punish himself by doing long distance running, and has completed several marathon and half-marathon events around the world.
